Abstract

This study aims to determine how the form and function of Dikiu Gubano's music in the community of Ranah Village, Kampar District, Kampar Regency. The method used in this research is descriptive analysis method using qualitative data. Data collection techniques used in this study were observation, interviews, and documentation. The subjects in this study amounted to 10 people consisting of 1 traditional music artist from Kampar, 2 musicians from the Dikiu Gubano group "Sumber Jaya Makmur", and 7 people from Ranah Village, Kampar District, Kampar Regency. the theory used in the research of Dikiu Gubano's music form "Ya Akroma" is the theory of music form according to Karl-Edmund Prier (2014: 2), while the theory used in the research of music functions in society is the theory of music functions according to Alan P. Meriam (1964: 219). Data analysis techniques used in the study are data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusions for later verification. From the results of the study it can be concluded that the music of Dikiu Gubano "Ya Akroma" consists of 2 parts, namely part A / theme 1 (Motan Baaghak) and part B / theme 2 (Pik Tun Tun), each part structure is composed of sentences , phrases and motives. Then From the results of the study it can be concluded that there are 5 music functions of Dikiu Gubano in the Ranah Village community, Kampar District, Kampar Regency, namely (1) the function of music as aesthetic appreciation; (2) the function of music as entertainment; (3) the function of music as communication; (4) the function of music as a physical reaction or physical response; and (4) the function of music as social continuity.
