Abstract

The excessive using of smartphones among teens caused them became less interacting, individualistic, and anti-social. Moral reasoning is a key factor that influences the tendency of one's mind to act pro social, although the correlation between moral reasoning with moral behavior is not so high, because pro-social behavior factors are influenced by many factors, one of which is the situation, helper, needs and desires of a person. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of moral reasoning and prosocial behavior among adolescents of smartphone users at Pekanbaru city. The study population was 195.418 adolescents, sample used were 270 adolescents with cluster random sampling techniques. Data collection used prosocial behavior scale and DIT (defining issue test), then the data obtained were analyzed by using correlation pearson product moment analysis. Based on the results of the analysis of this study, it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between moral reasoning and prosocial behavior among adolescent of smartphone users at Pekanbaru city. The higher of their moral reasoning, the higher their prosocial behavior among adolesecents of smartphone users at Pekanbaru city. Moral reasoning contributed into adolescents prosocial behavior by percentage 12,7%.
