Abstract

Food is a basic of human need that must be met to sustain life. Its cause food is a source of nutrition needed by humans to achieve health and well-being throughout their life cycle. There are four main pillars in the effort to achieve food security, namely: 1) increase food availability; 2) develop a food distribution system; 3) improve the quality of food consumption; and 4) building a conducive food system. The food security of an area can be influenced by various aspects, not only aspects of food availability, but also aspects of food access and aspects of food utilization. This study its aims to analyze: 1) food availability in Pekanbaru City; 2) food access in Pekanbaru City; 3) food utilization in Pekanbaru City; 4) the combined index of food security in Pekanbaru City. This research uses the literature study method, in the form of secondary data for 5 years (2016-2020). Data analysis was carried out by analyzing food availability, food access, food utilization, and the combined index of food security. The results showed that the condition of food availability aspect was in a very food-resistant condition with a food availability composite index of 0.06, the aspect of food access is a condition of food security with a composite index of food access of 0.32, the aspect of food utilization is a condition of food security with a composite index of food utilization of 0.26, and combine composite index of the three aspects of food security in Pekanbaru City is condition of food security with a combine composite index of food security of 0.21.
