Abstract

The presence of the Covid-19 Pandemic with policies in the form of Social Distancing, PSBB, and WFH in the future as a consideration for considering the spread of the virus and the spread of victims in Indonesia caused new problems. Not a few numbers, employees have been laid off and laid off. This proved unacceptable to all families. As a result, vulnerable parties such as housewives will experience pressure. Pressure without a solution will trigger the emergence of suicide. Some of the feelings that housewives often experience, such as the lack of free time, the feeling of always being under men, and the feeling of not being recognized, make housewives more dominant during this pandemic. The purpose of this study is to find out how the Covid-19 pandemic can trigger the emergence of suicide among housewives during the Covid-19 pandemic. The type of research used by the author in this study is qualitative research with case study methods by collecting data and analyzing data from the author's interviews with key informants and related informants. Referring to the theory used by the researcher, namely the Anomie theory by Robert K. Merton, the act of suicide committed by housewives during the Covid-19 pandemic is one of the ways that Merton considers to have attracted the goals and methods that exist in society because they cannot achieve these ends and means legitimately, eventually withdrawing by means of suicide. This act of suicide is categorized by Merton in the adaptation of Retreatism.
