Abstract

At present, the practice of violence against the ICRC is often a phenomenon especially in countries where international armed conflict is occurring. Armed conflicts in various parts of the world have made many people victims who have to bear the negative effects of the armed conflict. One civilian who is often a victim of the armed conflict is a member of the ICRC. Protection of the ICRC has been regulated in the Geneva Conventions of 1949, but in reality health care officers who are carrying out their duties are often in an unsafe position when in a state of armed conflict. Nor are they also being used as military targets. The main problem in this thesis is how to protect the ICRC in international armed conflict according to the Geneva Conventions of 1949 on the Protection of Victims of War and what were the inhibiting factors in protecting the ICRC in international armed conflict according to the 1949 Geneva Convention on the Protection of Victims of War. In this thesis the author uses a method of normative legal research methods, namely study documents based on literature and regulations relating to the discussion, but will also be compared with the opinions of existing experts. In this case the author tries to describe in detail, clearly and systemically the Protection of the ICRC according to the Geneva Conventions of 1949 concerning the Protection of Victims of War. From the results of the research of the authors, that protection of the ICRC is important to protect them from the object or object of the dispute. Protection of the ICRC is regulated in several Geneva Convention Articles of 1949 which at the core of all the articles are to give special respect and protection to the ICRC. The violation of the ICRC's protection efforts is also a violation of International Humanitarian Law in which violations of International Humanitarian Law are criminal in nature so that criminal penalties are a direct result of the violation.
