Abstract

Magazine cover is a medium of conveying messages through a form of visual design as well as a combination of words and images which results in a unified communication. This research was conducted using qualitative methods, while the research subject is the magazine cover tempo edition “struggled to replace the smoke” published on 23-29 September 2019. In edition “struggled to replace the smoke” there is 1 cover with 5 parts in the cover which represents to be a review of interpretation by the researcher. 5 parts of the cover that represent to be the subject of this research. This study uses semiotics analysis, namely Charles Sanders Pierce's Semiotic which refers to the theory Triangle Meaning which consists of Sign, Object, and Interpretant in order to understand the representation of the meaning of the message contained in the cover of the magazine tempo edition “struggled to replace the smoke” published on 23-29 September 2019. The results of this study are a representation of the meaning of the message contained in parts of the research interpretation of the magazine cover tempo “struggled to replace the smoke”.
