Abstract

The implementation of mixed marriages between indigenous peoples in Minangkabau and non minangkabau often occurs, but their implementation and legal consequences are still rarely known, therefore the writer in his thesis studies the implementation problems and legal consequences in the community where the research was conducted. The main problem in this study is the implementation of mixed marriages between Minangkabau and non minangkabau tribes based on adat, covering the initial stages until after marriage, and the legal consequences of implementing mixed marriages between Minangkabau and non-Minang tribes in customary law. This research was conducted and included to the type of observational research by survey, the authors directly descend the field (research location) and obtain data by interview. While the nature of this research is descriptive because in this study it makes a systematic, factual, and accurate description, describing a symptom of an event that occurred earlier. The author's data collection tool was obtained based on the results of open and in-depth interviews. The purpose of this study is to describe how the procedures for implementing mixed marriages and how legal actions cause legal consequences. From the results of the study it can be concluded, that in the process of implementing mixed marriages that occurred in Kurai Limo Jorong there are assimilation from two different ethnic groups which can then be accepted without causing loss of one's own kinship personality which is known as cultural acculturation. The acculturation can be found in marriage processions, such as when the reception process is ongoing and legal actions that cause legal consequences.
