Abstract
Tight Gas Reservoir is one type of Non-Conventional reservoir which is currently being developed to meet world energy demand. Non-conventional reservoirs have low permeability characteristics of about 0.1mD with clastic and carbonate rock types. In decades, horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing have been applied to tight reservoir fields which are considered suitable for increasing oil recovery in the reservoir. However, during primary recovery, there is a decrease in production over time, depletion of the reservoir, and low mobility. Thus, to increase effective oil recovery, a tertiary recovery process commonly known as Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) is carried out using the nitrogen gas injection method. As long as nitrogen is injected, so far in the petroleum world, nitrogen injection into reservoirs has not caused any major problems.
