Abstract

Abstract Interpersonal Communication for Married Couples who Live Long Distance Relationships in Maintaining Harmonious Relationships in Perawang City Alya Tamara Octavia 179110291 This study aims to determine how interpersonal communication in married couples who undergo long-distance marriages in maintaining a harmonious relationship. This study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods, this study uses data collection techniques of interviews, observations, and documentation studies with 5 informants as the subject of the named wife of the husband and wife. From the results of this study, it can be seen that this study uses Alfred's phenomenology theory which categorizes 2 motives in two parts, namely referring to past experiences related to the causes of action from the background of husband and wife undergoing long distance relationships and reasons about husband and wife wanting to maintain a relationship. long distance. In accordance with interviews conducted by researchers, this married couple has a long-distance relationship with past motives for undergoing a long-distance relationship, namely the need for economic factors, narrow employment opportunities, longing for their partner, and lack of trust in their partner. The motive for the future is that husband and wife have a new understanding of long-distance relationships such as overcoming the family's economic gap, fostering mutual understanding and understanding, quality time with family, high sense of trust and maintaining a harmonious relationship.
