Abstract

Penitentiary is one of the institutions that enforce the law in the activities of coaching prisoners with the aim of being able to change them when they return to the community. Not only men who use drugs, women also use drugs. The guidance carried out in this Correctional Institution should be able to reduce the recurrence or reoccurrence of crimes that make them become inmates who are commonly referred to as recidivists. The formulation of the problem that the author puts forward is about how the form of implementation of coaching for narcotics crime recidivists in the Class II A Women's Correctional Institution Pekanbaru, as well as what are the obstacles in the implementation of coaching against narcotics crime recidivists in the Class II A Women's Correctional Institution Pekanbaru. In this study, the author uses empirical/sociological research by collecting data through field interviews and distributing questionnaires directly to respondents at the Class II A Women's Penitentiary in Pekanbaru. This research is descriptive in nature, that is, it uses facts regarding the development of narcotics recidivist prisoners as well as obstacles in fostering at the Class II A Women's Correctional Institution Pekanbaru. The results of the research conducted by the author, that there is no difference between the coaching at the Class II A Women's Penitentiary in Pekanbaru for narcotics recidivist prisoners and non-recidivist inmates, there is no difference, the form of coaching carried out is personality and independence development, but narcotics inmates get a rehabilitation program. In carrying out the coaching, there are obstacles such as the lack of officers, the difficulty of controlling the new inmates who are less alert, the existence of the covid outbreak that hinders the progress of the coaching.
