Abstract

The crime of persecution is included in the crime against the limbs which is a series of acts of violence that can make the victim suffer various kinds of suffering that befall the victim's physical and psychological condition of the victim will also be disturbed due to certain causes. However, this does not make Indonesia a country that is free from criminal cases, crimes such as persecution often occur in the community. Because the loss suffered by the victim is so large, it is the obligation of law enforcement officers, especially the police, to handle criminal acts of persecution that cause serious injuries in the most fair manner. The main problems in this study are the factors causing the occurrence of criminal acts that cause serious injuries and knowing the police's efforts in tackling the criminal act of persecution that causes serious injuries in the jurisdiction of the Pekanbaru Police. main problem in this research an empirical legal research method using observation research or field surveys by way of direct surveys to the field, to collect primary and secondary data obtained from respondents either through questionnaires or interviews to be used as data or information as material in writing this research. Based on the results of the study, it can be understood that the crime of persecution that resulted in serious injuries occurred due to several factors, including external factors, namely the place of crime, family, time of crime, and the environment. While the internal factors that exist within the perpetrator, which consists of age, personality, economy, emotions and education. Therefore, the role of the police in tackling criminal acts of persecution that resulted in serious injuries in the preventive field is in the form of raids at night entertainment venues, carrying out routine patrols and conducting outreach to the community, while the role of the police in the repressive field conducts investigations and investigations, the results of which will be submitted to the public.
