Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of competence and training on employee performance at PT. Indonesia Port I dumai branch. The analytical tool in this study was quantitative descriptive using SPSS version 22. The sample used in this study were 31 employees from a total population of 173 employees in 2019 using the Probability Sampling technique. Data collection techniques in this study used a questionnaire accompanied by an interview. Data analysis techniques using multiple linear regression analysis. From the data analysis, it can be concluded that based on the recaptulation of the responses of respondents regarding the variable Competency, Training at PT. Indonesian Port I in the good category. This can be seen from the value of competency with t-count> t-table. While training affects employee performance, seen from the value of t-count> t-table. The better the competence and training conducted, the better the performance produced by the employee. Competence and training have a joint effect on the performance of employees. Thus to be able to improve employee performance, company management needs to pay more attention to the competencies that are applied as well as good training to be able to improve better performance.
