Abstract

Adolescence time is identified with the transformation or transition, changes in both physical and mental aspects that affect the condition of adolescent thought. Self-compassion is recognized in dealing with problems in oneself and being positive in handling with everything that happens to oneself. Likewise the adolescent awareness which must be fortified by the approach to Almighty God includes an attitude of religiosity. The purpose of this study is to find out the correlation between religiosity and self-compassion on adolescents in Pekanbaru. The subject of the research is 100 teenagers aged 12 to 15 years at the level of junior high school (SMP) or equivalent in Pekanbaru. Sampling technique uses cluster random sampling. The data collection method uses the scale of Religiosity by Suci Hardianti (2019), with 33 items and Self Compassion scale by Fany and Farida (2016), with 16 items. The data are analyzed by using Pearson Product Moment correlation where the results shows a correlation coefficient of r of 0.257 with p of 0.01 (p <0.05). It can be concluded that there is a positive and significant correlation between religiosity and self-compassion on adolescents in Pekanbaru. By referring the positive correlation value, It means that the higher the religiosity, the higher the self-compassion, and vice versa the lower the religiosity, the lower the self-compassion.
