Abstract

Abstract The Leadership Communication Style in PT. Melodi Inggris Ceria Pekanbaru Mandala Pangihutan 169110080 This research aims to determine the leadership communication style in PT Melodi Inggris Ceria Pekanbaru where there is often some misunderstanding between the leader and the employees. A leader in the company is required to have a communication style in accordance to the employees' general expectations. The researcher utilized the theory of Communication Style by Robert and Kanicki, namely, Passive, Aggressive, and Assertive Styles; and the four types of Filipino Leadership styles according to Agpalo which consist The Supremo, The Visionary, The Organization Man and The Paradux. This research used qualitative methods using data collection techniques such as observation, interviews and documentation. Retrieval of informants employed a purposive technique wherein the subjects included one leader and four employees of the said company. The result of this study shows that the leader of PT Melodi Inggris Ceria uses assertive style as evidenced by an open type of communication being consistently practiced. Also, the style of Phillipine leadership observed is The Supremo as seen in the leadership who incorporates basic values into their sphere of influence.
