Abstract
This study aims to determine the description of learning methods and learning motivation of science and social studies students of SMA Negeri 9 Pekanbaru in economics. The method used is descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The results of this study indicate that the science student learning method variables are more dominant in the indicators of schedule making and implementation, concentration and doing assignments, while social studies students are more dominant in the indicators of reading and taking notes and on indicators of repeating study material, both science and social studies students have the same low self-awareness. In the variable of learning motivation for science and social studies students on the indicators of desire and desire to succeed, the existence of hopes and aspirations for the future, the existence of appreciation in learning, the existence of interesting activities in learning and a conducive environment have similarities, while the indicators of encouragement and need in learning. learning has a difference in which science students encourage learning more to their classmates, while social studies students are more to their subject teachers.
