Abstract

This study aims to determine and analyze the Supervision of the Office of the Environment on Sago Industrial Waste Disposal in the Meranti Islands District. The supervisory assessment indicators used include setting standards, measures of implementation and making improvements. This type of research is a quantitative descriptive survey, which prioritizes the questionnaire list as a data collection tool and the data collected with this tool is then used as the main raw material for analyzing the empirical conditions and objectivity of the existence of objectives at the research location. The population and sample in this study were 26 people. Types and data collection techniques used consist of primary data collected using questionnaire and interview lists and secondary data collected using observation techniques. While the data analysis technique used is to use a frequency table tool. Based on this analysis technique the researchers assessed and concluded that the Supervision of the Environmental Service in the Disposal of Sago Industrial Waste in the Regency of Meranti Islands was categorized quite implemented. The inhibiting factor is the lack of a monitoring budget, so that supervision by the Department of the Environment on the disposal of sago waste in the Meranti Islands District has become inconsistent in time and is not optimal, ie two years only once. Then the Department of the Environment only supervises sago refineries that are located close by, and does not supervise sago refineries that are located far from the capital of the Meranti Islands Regency. This happens because the access road to the sago refinery which is far away is difficult to pass, that is, many roads are damaged and spend a large enough budget. And there are still some sago refineries that do not yet have a waste disposal facility that is not in accordance with the provisions of the Environmental Services Supervision Team, so that business owners prefer to dispose of waste into the main river that penetrates into the sea rather than making their own shelter. As a result, the main river and sea become polluted, dirty, smell bad, and river and sea ecosystems such as fish become disturbed and many fish die.
