Abstract

Efforts to educate the nation mean to improve the quality of Indonesian people, which basically can be realized through educational activities. Achievement motivation is one of the most important parts in the process of achieving success, especially in the academic field of students. Motivation is a driver for students to achieve their desired goals, especially students will become more active in learning activities and study in class and can make students more disciplined. Achievement motivation is one of them obtained from interactions with others, one of the factors that can affect achievement motivation is the relationship in peers. Peer support will increase individual academic motivation. The support obtained by individuals from close friends in academic situations and will increase the academic motivation of these individuals. This study aims to determine peer support for achievement motivation in students. The sample in this study consisted of 162 students of SMA 1 Bandar Seikijang. The technique chosen is using the Sample Random Sampling technique. Data collection techniques used two scales namely achievement motivation and peer support. The method in this study uses simple regression analysis. The results in this study indicate that there is a very significant influence between peer support on student achievement motivation (F = 0.337, p = 0.000 p <0.05).
