Abstract

Nurses as a career woman, especially those who are married, automatically assume a dual role, both in her work environment and her family environment. Conflicts often arise when one role demands more or needs more attention. This conflict raises various problems that affect her family life and her career, one hand they are required to be responsible for caring for and nurturing her family well, on the other hand they are required to work and commit to the organization. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of workfamily conflict on organizational commitment among nurses at Hospital X Pekanbaru. The population in this study was 177 nurses with sample 103 married nurses by purposive sampling technique. Data collecting technique used organizational commitment scale consisted of 26 items and work-family conflict scale consisted of 32 items, then the obtained data were analyzed by using correlation Pearson analysis. Based on the results of the analysis of this study, it can be concluded that there is a significant negative relationship between work conflict family on organizational commitment among nurses at Hospital X Pekanbaru, it means that increasing of her work-family conflict, will decrease their organizational commitment, otherwise decreasing of her work- family conflict, will increase their organizational commitment. Work-family conflict has contribution on nurses organization commitment by percentage 30,2%.
