Abstract

Freedom is the thing that prisoners have been waiting for the most, but while in prison the prisoners must adjust themselves first to their personal and social needs. The purpose of this study was to determine the adjustment of prisoners who would come out of the detention center in Pekanbaru. This research is a qualitative research involving two prisoners research subjects who will be free. Based on the results of the analysis of this study, it can be concluded that (1) HN which is still classified as a teenager has a better level of adjustment, although being held is the subject's first experience, HN is not at all anxious about the situation he is facing due to migrating in another city. Unmarried HN also felt he had no responsibility, but he still wanted to aspire to his parents' happy home. HN's personal adjustment was able to help him undergo a period of confinement that had to interact with other fellow prisoners and guardians. (2) RA actually shows a weak personal adjustment to the situation and conditions. RA personal adjustment is quite low, but has a high social adjustment. This is indicated by the continued support of his wife and friends, and wanting to return to work to support his wife and children, claiming they did not leave responsibility because they still get a monthly commission allowance from the company where they work.
