Abstract

Debt was a giving something as a loan to someone without expecting anything in return with the same replacement and it could take anytime whenever he wants. This debt was called tabarru contract or mutual help contract and aimed to lighten the burden of others. Also, the other definition about debt was giving properties to someone with an appointment to be returned in the next time, because giving debt meant that helping others and it was recommended by Islam. The purpose in this research examined to investigate the practice 1. Debt was paid with paddy at Sanglar village Reteh district Indragiri Hilir Regency Riau Province. 2. To know the review from Islamic law on paddy buying and selling at Sanglar Village Reteh district Indragiri Hilir Regency Riau Province. The informant in this research was farmers and lender that has a loan. This research used field research; the method used descriptive qualitative. Data collection technique used observation, interview and documentation. After data collection, it was analyzed by using qualitative. This research finding showed that debt was paid with crops system explained that the procedure where the farmers take a loan with lender and it would be paid with their harvest and this system did not used agreement and the farmers sold their harvest cheaper to the lender. Besides, in Islamic economic perspectives, this system was forbidden because it would give disadvantage to one of the parties.
