Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the main interaction of growth and production of shallot plants given rice husk charcoal (biochar) and garlic vegetable pesticides. This research has been carried out at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Riau Islamic University, Pekanbaru City. The research period is four months starting from February to May 2021. This study used a Factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of two factors. The first factor is the provision of Rice Husk Charcoal (P) consisting of 4 levels, namely: 0, 70, 140, 210 grams/polybag and the second factor is Garlic Vegetable Pesticide (N) which consists of 4 levels, namely: 0, 15, 30, 45% per 100ml of distilled water, so that 16 combination treatments were obtained with 3 replications, so there were 48 experimental units. Each unit consisted of 8 plants per plot, and 6 plants were sampled, so that 384 plants were obtained. Parameters observed were plant relative growth rate, plant height, harvest age, number of tubers per clump, wet weight per clump, dry weight per clump, tuber weight loss, tuber grade, and the percentage of pest attack. The data were statistically analyzed and presented with the Honest Significant Difference Test (BNJ) at the 5% level. The results of the study concluded that the interaction of rice husk charcoal (biochar) and garlic vegetable pesticides had an effect on: plant height, harvest age, number of tubers per clump, wet weight of bulbs per clump, dry weight of bulbs per clump, tuber weight loss, grade of onion. , and the percentage of pest attack. The best treatment was a combination of 210 grams of rice husk charcoal/plant (P3) and 45% garlic (N3) vegetable pesticides. The main effect of rice husk charcoal (biochar) on all observation parameters, the best treatment was a dose of 210 grams/plant (P3). The main effect of the vegetable pesticide garlic affects all observation parameters, the best treatment is 45% (N3)
