Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between learning motivation and metacognition awareness on cognitive learning outcomes of class VIII students of SMP Negeri 10 Pekanbaru for the 2019/2020 academic year. This research was conducted from May to June 2020. This research is a correlational study and data collection uses data using questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. The sample in this study were 115 students with different cognitive ability levels. Data analysis in this study using Person Product Moment Correlation analysis techniques. The results showed that in high cognitive students, learning motivation (X1) and metacognitive awareness (X2) on learning outcomes (Y) there was a significant relationship moderate 0,587. In moderate cognitive students, learning motivation (X1) and metacognition awareness (X2) on learning outcomes (Y) have a relationship that moderate 0,429. In low cognitive students, learning motivation (X1) and metacognition awareness (X2) on learning outcomes (Y) have a significant relationship low 0,380. For significant test scores, it was found that high cognitive students, learning motivation (X1) and metacognition awareness (X2) with cognitive learning outcomes (Y) thitung (3,70) > ttabel (2,045). In moderate cognitive students, learning motivation (X1) and metacognition awareness (X2) towards learning outcomes (Y) thitung (3,56) > ttabel (2,002). In low cognitive students, learning motivation (X1) and metacognition awareness (X2) on learning outcomes (Y) thitung (2,14) > ttabel (2,048). The results of this study indicate that there is a significant relationship between learning motivation and metacognition awareness of the cognitive learning outcomes of class VIII students at SMP Negeri 10 Pekanbaru for the 2019/2020 academic year.
