Abstract

This study aims to describe and examine the use of Instagram to improve the existence of the Agya Ayla Holic Riau community. This study uses the theory put forward by Erving Goffman. In this study, researchers used descriptive research methods with a qualitative approach to obtain research data with purposive sampling and data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the interviews were analyzed using triangulation of sources. The results showed that the use of Instagram to improve the existence of the Agya Ayla Holic Riau community included: (1) Instagram as a media for promoting community activities; (2) Instagram as a medium to increase the number of members; (3) Instagram as a means of information for members and the public; (4) Instagram as a "Social-Influencing" medium for the community; and (5) self-presentation of members from the Agya Ayla Holic Riau community. The supporting factors for the community to increase its existence are public awareness of the community and the large number of members. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factors are not optimal participation of all members and limited intensity of community posts. So it can be concluded that the use of Instagram by the Agya Ayla Holic Riau community in increasing their existence can be done through self-presentation of members by posting photos, videos, pictures and words aimed at both the internal and external public.
