Abstract
In an insurance agreement, a problem that is quite complicated is the problem of claims. Life insurance claim is a claim from the policyholder appointed to the insurance party, for a sum of payment of the sum insured or cash value arising because the conditions in the life insurance agreement have been fulfilled. To take care of claims for death, at PT Asuransi Jiwa Bumiputera Pekanbaru there is a claim unit. If there is an insurance participant who filed a claim, then it must complete the specified conditions. If all conditions have been completed, then PT Asuransi Jiwa Bumiputera Pekanbaru will pay the claim to the policy holder / heir. But in the implementation, there are problems in the submission of claims submitted by heirs, one of which claims are not paid due to incomplete documents. The formulation of the problem in this study is how is the procedure for filing a life insurance claim by the heirs at PT Asuransi Jiwa Bumiputera Pekanbaru and what are the obstacles encountered by the heirs in filing a life insurance claim at PT. Asuransi Jiwa Bumiputera Pekanbaru. The research method used in this study is a survey, while the nature of this study is descriptive. The population in this study was 17 people with sensing sampling techniques. The selected sample was subsequently determined to be the respondent in this study. Data collection tools used were questionnaires and interviews. From the results of the research that the author did note that the procedure for filing a life insurance claim by the heirs of the PT Asuransi Jiwa Bumiputera Pekanbaru by coming directly to the PT Asuransi Jiwa Bumiputera Pekanbaru life insurance company to request a letter submitting a claim and complete the necessary requirements. Then the documents are submitted to the claim administration section. Furthermore, the claim document is verified at the branch office before being sent to the regional and central offices, if the life insurance claim is considered true then the company will make a decision and calculate the compensation payment to the heirs. The obstacles encountered by the heirs in filing a life insurance claim at the PT Asuransi Jiwa Bumiputera Pekanbaru of life insurance is to complete the documents and the lack of knowledge of the heirs, dishonesty of the customer and the existence of an insurance company exception in paying the sum insured.
