Abstract

Supervision of public transportation, both goods transportation and people transportation / travel is the responsibility of the Pekanbaru City Transportation Office. However, there is a problem, namely the lack of supervision of the Pekanbaru City Transportation Service. This is due to the responsibility of team officers, so that the control is still not optimal. So that there are still many illegal agents in the city of Pekanbaru roaming around, causing traffic jams and causing a high level of alertness to the community. The purpose of this study is to find out and analyze the implementation of the duties of the Department of Transportation in monitoring road transport traffic in Pekanbaru City and the inhibiting factors. The research method used is descriptive qualitative method with data collection through interviews, observation and documentation. The key and informants in this study were the Head of Control and the owner or travel driver. The results of the study are that the supervision of the Pekanbaru City Transportation Service is good enough in controlling shuttle transportation, only now the Pekanbaru City Transportation Service is no longer taking action against shuttle transportation that does not have a route permit, because illegal travel action has been handled by the Ministry of Transportation. The inhibiting factor in the Implementation of the Tasks of the Department of Transportation in Supervision of Road Transport Traffic in Pekanbaru City is that there are still many people who do not understand the rules governing public transportation, some even do not know of the existence of these regulations, and the lack of public awareness that travel companies should have permission. Suggestions that can be given in this study are that in the supervision process, they should adhere to the specified standards and there are clear sanctions so that illegal travel is discouraged and does not repeat mistakes. Then an explanation of the rules governing public transportation for travel drivers and travel companies is given. To carry out surveillance in the field, it must be carried out as often as possible so as to reduce illegal travel, and then the monitoring points are expanded both on large roads and rat walks. And then the need to increase the ability of human resources and increase cooperation between employees so that the implementation of tasks can be directed and coordinated optimally so that it runs well.
