Abstract

THE RELATIONSHIP OF OPTIMISM WITH ACADEMIC RESILIENCE IN STUDENTS OF RIAU ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY Rini Julianti 148110108 FACULTY OF PSYCHOLOGY RIAU ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY ABSTRACT This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between optimism and academic resilience in students. The subjects in this study were 91 people who were selected using a non-probability sampling technique (quota sampling). Methods of data collection using the scale of optimism and academic resilience scale. The data were analyzed using the Spearman Rho correlation method where the results showed the correlation coefficient r of 0.489 with p of 0.000 (p <0.05). It can be concluded that there is a positive and significant relationship between optimism and academic resilience in students. This means that the higher the optimism, the higher the academic resilience of the student, and vice versa, the lower the optimism, the lower the academic resilience of the student.
