Abstract
The implementation of policies due to the Covid-19 pandemic one of them is social distancing. But in fact, in the implementation of the policy is not all able to run it one of them is in Lapas and Rutan in Indonesia, the cause is Crowding which causes distress. One of the effects of distress is to make people feel the pressure that leads to stress because of the lack of flexibility of their behavior that is limited to density. This study aims to find out the influence of crowding on stress levels in inmates and prisoners in Rutan Class I Pekanbaru during Covid-19. The subjects of this study were 322 inmates and prisoners in Rutan Class I Pekanbaru. Data collection uses crowding and stress scales. The statistic analysis used is a simple linear regression. Following the calculations using a simple linear regression analysis that has been done obtained the result of a significant influence between crowding to stress inmates and prisoners in Rutan Class I Pekanbaru during Covid-19. Crowding affects only 9.3% of stress. And the rest was influenced by other factors that were not studied. Keywords: Crowding, Stress, Inmates and Prisoners, Rutan Class I Pekanbaru, Covid-19
