Abstract

One of the waste products from oil production is in the form of air contaminated with oil or what is more commonly called production water (produced water). Produced water should not be disposed of directly into the environment or re-injected into the reservoir if it still contains oil content, Total Dissolved Oil, pH and Turbidity that are not in accordance with regulations from Government Regulations. Currently, one of the ways to produce air from other impurities is by filtering or filtration which in the industry is called an oil removal filter. Research using activated carbon from coal, walnuts, and a combination of coal activated carbon and walnuts as a comparison to reduce the oil content, total dissolved oil (TDS), pH and turbidity from the production field #SPU Sei Karas PT. Pertamina EP Lirik. Research using activated carbon as raw material, coal and walnuts, because it can purify and absorb impurities in contaminated air. The use of activated carbon coal, walnuts, and this combination aims to see the transfer of raw material filters to the oil content, turbidity, pH and TDS contained in production water. The filtration process is carried out by using a vertical tube which uses a bulkhead for placing the filter media, which then flows with oil-contaminated water. Based on the results of research that has been done, the oil content that is still contained in the production after the filtration process is 8 ppm with an efficiency of 11.11% in walnut media, 7 ppm with an efficiency of 22.22% in coal activated carbon media, and 7.5. ppm efficiently 16.67% in combination media. The TDS values were 197 ppm in walnut media, 1810 ppm on coal activated carbon media, and 1477 on combination media. pH 6.39 for the filter results using walnuts, 8.28 for activated carbon and 7.53 for the combination, and the level of water turbidity (Turbidity) 8.32 NTU on walnut media, 4.31 NTU on coal activated carbon media and 6.7 NTU on combination media.
