Abstract

Tuanku Tambusai street is one of the national roads in the city of Pekanbaru which is included in the class of collector roads with lane type 4/2D which is an economic area that causes traffic volume to increase,resulting in reduced road performance,this is due to traffic density.what happened in particular between the intersection of Pope to the intersection of the busiest road. In this research,analyzed the relationship between the three main components of traffic flow the volume(Q,,velocity(V)and the density(D)in the two methods,the Model Greenshield and Model Greenberg. From the research and analysis of traffic flow model best to describe the density at the time of loss(Dj)is the Model Greenshield,scored 306.61 to 920.17 smp/ km,while the model Greenberg obtain the value Dj so large that between 203.56 to 7443.5 smp/km themodel Greenshield has a maximum volume/capacity value of 1095.55 – 2702.84 pcu/hour,while themodel Greenberg has a very large capacity value between 176.07 - 7447 pcu/hour which is not in accordance with the basic capacity of the road in theresearch location.The level of service on Tuanku Tambusai Pekanbaru (one week of research) is included in the category of service level E,which means that it cannot be measured by speed alone,this situation is usually caused by volume traffic is approaching the road capacity,resulting in unstable flow and vehicles sometimes starting to stop due to heavy traffic.Tuanku Tambusai street needs to get traffic management from now on,especially between Paus Street and Terubuk street taking into account the conditions of volume,speed and the existing traffic density,so that future traffic problems can be anticipated early on, namely congestion problems.
