Abstract

Indonesia's oil production is in the mature fields stage with a dominant recovery factor of 32%, and around 48.6 billion barrels of oil have not been recovered. At this stage, Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) is a method that can be done to produce oil that cannot be recovered (Recovery). The Talang Akar and Batu Raja Formations in the South Sumatra Basin contain gas fields with high CO2 content, CO2 injection is a new opportunity to increase oil recovery in the South Sumatra Basin. Often the offer of oil and gas working areas does not sell or barely sells. In this case, reforms or changes are needed, starting with the basic thing, namely the Production Sharing Contract (PSC). In 2017 the Government of Indonesia created a new PSC model, namely the PSC with the Gross Split scheme. The PSC Gross split scheme with a model that has never been implemented in this industry was created through the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Regulation Number 8 of 2017 concerning the Gross Split Production Sharing Contract. Therefore it is important to do this research to find out the comparison of the economic feasibility of the “MLA” field with the PSC cost recovery system and also the gross split. From the analysis and economic calculations that have been carried out, it can be seen that the contract with the Gross Split system is still more profitable than the PSC cost recovery system for MLA field development. By looking at the NPV, IRR, and PBB values obtained by using the PSC Cost Recovery contract, it is 9 MMU $, 21% and 4.8 years. Meanwhile, the NPV, IRR and PBP values obtained by using the Gross Split contract are 30.7 MMUS $, 31.8%, and 3.87 years.
