Abstract

Pipes are equipment used to move fuids from one place to another. In the oil and gas industry, pipes are one of the equipment that needs attention so that production can run smoothly. One of the problems that often occurs in pipes is erosion. Erosion is a concern because it can cause an increase in the severity of corrosion which can reduce the life of the pipelines in well X field Y, so the company spends more for pipe replacement. Erosion is caused by a mixture of air, oil, gas and current flowing at high speed in the pipe. This problem can be overcome by determining the correct size of the pipe diameter using the erosion flow equation. Determination of the size of the pipe diameter is calculated based on the flow rate of erosion. This research is important to do because it can extend the life of pipes in well X field Y and company costs. From the calculation using the erosional flow equation, it is found that the erosion work flow velocity is 40.64 ft / s. For each speed of 10 ft / s, 15 ft / s, 40.64 ft / s, 50 ft / s, 60 ft / s, a pipe diameter of 3 inch, 2.5 inch, 1.6 inch, 1.4 inch, 1.3 inch is obtained with a pressure loss of 36.7 psi, 99 psi, 1117.2 psi, 1862 psi, 2094 psi. Based on these results, a pipe diameter of 3 inches can be used in the well channel X field Y.
