Abstract
This thesis aims to find out in detail about the Tor-Tor Sipitu Sawan dance by Sedihma Silalahi at the Pusuk Buhit Sakti Sorimangaraja Foundation in Parapat village, Girsang Sipangan Bolon District, Simalungun Regency, this research was conducted at the Pusuk Buhit Sakti Sorimangaraja Foundation on 15 January-19 October 2019 Tor-Tor Sipitu Sawan is a dance based on traditional Batak movements created by the Pusuk Buhit Sakti Sorimangaraja Foundation in 2000. The Tor-Tor Sipitu Sawan dance is based on local community stories. Samosir and the angels showered in the so-called Tala-Tala. Among the seven angels there is one angel who is considered as the queen or leader. In the mountain region of Pusuk Buhit at that time there were not many residents like now, then the queen met with one of Radja Batak's daughters. From that meeting, the queen bequeathed the dance we know today to the Tor-Tor Sipitu Sawan dance. This study uses descriptive qualitative research methods and non-participant observation data collection techniques, documentation and interviews focused on observing elements of the Tor-Tor Sipitu Sawan dance. This study uses a theory according to Soedarsono (1977: 41), in making a dance work there must be elements of dance that must be known, namely motion, music, floor design, properties, themes, cosmetology, costumes, lighting, staging, dynamics. This work is useful for writers, namely as one of the efforts to preserve the culture of the Batak, it is also expected to add insight, sources of study and as relevant material in the form of written works, because there is rarely a book or paper that discusses tor-tor dance especially Tor-Tor Sipitu Sawan dance. For the Islamic Studies Program in the Riau Islamic University, this paper is expected to be useful for the academic world.
