Abstract
Lost circulation material is an additive used in addition to prevent the loss of mud during drilling. This type of LCM can be in the form of small grains ( Granular), flakes (Flake) and fiber (Fibrous). The material is designed to seal fractures or zones that have high permeability. In this study, researchers tried to combine Activated Carbon with Calcium Carbonate which is expected to prevent the occurrence offiltration loss. In this study, researchers tried to combine Activated Carbon with Calcium Carbonate which is expected to prevent filtration loss. In the research conducted, good mud is mud that has a low filtrate volume. Drilling mud must have properties that can release a small amount of filtrate. It can be seen in the results of testing the filtrate volume using four samples of adding variations in the concentration of calcium carbonate of 0.3%wt, 0.5%wt, 0.7%wt, 0.9%wt with 3 grams of activated carbon obtained by the filtrate volume of 10.5 ml, 10 ml, 9.5 ml, and 9 ml. The trend of the filtrate volume was in line with the increase in the concentration of calcium carbonate combined with activated carbon by 3 grams. The greater the addition of calcium carbonate concentration with activated carbon of 3 grams, the lower the value of the filtrate volume. Then at variations in the concentration of activated carbon of 0.4 %wt, 0.6 %wt, 0.8 %wt, 1.0 %wt combined with calcium carbonate of 0.9%wt, the filtrate volume is 9 ml, 8 ,5 ml, 8 ml, and 7.5 ml. Then the mud cake test for each concentration variation obtained the same thickness of 1.4 mm
