Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the use of comic media on the results of learning mathematics grade VII students of SMP Negeri 1 Siak Hulu. The fundamental problem with this writing is that it is suspected that students feel bored with math lessons that are monotonous with numbers and hard to understand. This research is a quasi-experimental research with non research design equivalent control group design using purposive sampling techniques. Population in this study were all grade VII of SMP Negeri 1 Siak Hulu year 2017/2018 lessons. The sample in this study there are two classes, namely class VII-C as an experimental class and class VII-D as a control class. Instrument which used in this study are mathematical comics, learning outcomes tests and Observation sheet implementation of the learning process. Data analysis technique used is descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistical analysis. Results Class research that uses comics is better than classes that do not Using comics, it can be seen from the average grade of experimental class that is 72.94 while the average value of the control class is 66.46. So there is influence the use of comic media on mathematics learning outcomes of SMP Negeri 1 students Siak Hulu.
