Abstract

Air Dingin Village is a sub-district with mixed and varied land uses in road corridors, this condition results in high activity occurring in the road corridors, this makes Air Dingin Village prone to street crime so it is necessary to model a space that is safe from street crime for the urban village. The purpose of this study is to design a model of space that is safe from street crime to provide recommendations for the design of spaces that are safe from crime. In this research, the method used is descriptive and qualitative methods where the descriptive method is used to describe the existing conditions of the Air Dingin Village or describe the data from the qualitative conditions within the scope of the research object, while the qualitative method used in this research is the Process Hierarchy Analysis (AHP) method. AHP method is used to see the tendency of physical spatial factors that greatly influence the occurrence of street crime which will then be used as a basis for modeling safe spaces from crime based on existing conditions and Defensible Space theory using the 2019 Sketch-Up software. The results of observations that have been made related to criminal conditions in Air Dingin Urban Village found that Air Dingin Village has a low density between buildings and between road boundaries, this has resulted in low visibility of views to oversee space which results in a high vulnerability of street crime in Air Dingin Village. The results of the Process Hierarchy Analysis (AHP) conducted on the physical factors that greatly influence the occurrence of street crime, it was found that the physical factors that were very influential were the easy access of the perpetrators to run away, a room that had a high level of crowd and a room with high activity. The results of the AHP are modeled on space that can limit access to make it difficult for actors to carry out their actions and facilitate environmental monitoring by increasing the visibility of the view of the space.
