Abstract
The Selatpanjang urban area is designated as Sub Urban Area A (SWK-A), namely as the center of the old city and the trading center of Selatpanjang City. Growth in the Selatpanjang urban area has increased every year which is marked by the increasing number of existing land uses. Therefore, this research was conducted so that the development of the Selatpanjang urban area is more effective and efficient in future development, it is necessary to know the form of the development of the Selatpanjang urban area. The spatial analysis method used in this research is the process of overlapping or overlaying between two or more thematic layers to obtain new thematic combinations according to the equations used to determine changes in land cover and land use changes, to determine the pattern of the road network in the Selatpanjang urban area. Descriptive analysis is used to analyze the data by describing the state of the research area according to the data obtained, then classifying based on the objectives achieved. This analysis aims to determine the pattern of buildings and functions of the Selatpanjang urban area. Changes in land cover in 2010-2018 change from undeveloped land to built up land by 14.685Ha or 20%. Changes in land use in 2010-2018 were dominated by forest to trade and services of 12.36 Ha or 16.8% and the smallest change from forest to settlements was 3.75 Ha or 5.11%. The pattern of the road network in the Selatpanjang urban area in 2010 is the angular road pattern or grid, in 2015-2018 the angular road or grid pattern. The pattern of buildings and their functions in 2010 is a linear pattern and a homogeneous pattern with the function of the building being dominated by trade and service buildings. In 2015-2018 the building pattern is a heterogeneous pattern and a linear pattern. The morphological form of the Selatpanjang urban area is a form of dispersed city plans.
