Abstract

Oil and gas are examples of natural resources that play in important role in human life. One of the production techniques applied is perforation. Perforation is a hole making activity. This technique is done after cementing the casing and well head have been installed and arranged properly. The main problem in this study is the failure to make perforation holes due to scoth lock that does not work at temperatures above 260 ,. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of temperature on the work of scoth lock equipment, evaluate the success rate of perforation based on the work of scoth lock and perforation equipment, find solution to scoth lock connection problems at temperatures above 260 . The method used is to calculate temperature, pressure, depth using geothermal gradients and pressure gradients, then calculate perforations intervals, gas and water flow rates and calculate resistance. This is done to determine the relationship between temperature and depth so that the scoth lock can be used under appropriate conditions. The results of this study obtained a perforation interval of 100 ft starting from a depth 4510 ft until 5620 ft. Critical flow rate of oil to gas is 22,34 bbl/day, critical flow rate of oil to water is 183 bbl/day. Geothermal gradient calculation results are : 246 , 248 , 250 , 252 , 254 , 256 , 258 , 260 , 262 , 264 , 266 , 268 . The results of the pressure gradient calculation are : 1895,5 psi, 1939 psi, 1982,5 psi, 2026 psi, 2069,5 psi, 2113 psi, 2156,5 psi, 2200 psi, 2243,5 psi, 2287 psi, 2330,5 psi, 2374 psi.. The results of the resistance calculation are: strong current 50 mA has a resistance of 10800 ohms. The strong current of 70 mA has a resistance of 7714,28 ohms. Strong current of 90 mA has a resistance of 6000 ohms. Strong current of 110 mA has a resistance of 4909,09 ohms. Aluminium is used as a scoth lock connection because it has electrical conductivity so that the scoth lock can function again.
