Abstract

As the production time of an oil well progresses, the reservoir pressure in the well will decrease. Reduced reservoir pressure causes a decrease in the rate of production. To overcome this condition an artificial lift (Musnal, 2015) is carried out. SKK Migas data in 2017 showed a decline in production of 51 Mboepd from the previous year which was produced as many as 2,213 Mboepd. The realization of oil lifting in 2017 is only 802.81 Mboepd or 98.6% of the 2017 Revised State Budget target (SKK Migas, 2017). Sintia oil well is one of the production fields managed by Badan Operasi Bersama (BOB) of PT. Bumi Siak Pusako and Pertamina Hulu. This field is included in the Pekanbaru Coastal Plan (CPP Block) which was initially managed by PT. CALTEX Pacific Indonesia (CPI). From the pump and well production data, the pump efficiency value is 60.3%. Low pump efficiency shows ineffective pump performance. In order to overcome this problem, the researcher conducted an optimization on the pump insert using the IPR curve data and the intake tubing curve. From the intersection of the two curves, the N value and the corresponding S value are obtained. Pump optimization is done with the aim of increasing pump efficiency and reducing pump workload so that oil production can run optimally. The increase in pump efficiency in North Sumatra occurs after the pump's step length has been reduced to 4,8 in from 60 in. The long reduction in this step affected the increase in oil production to 141 bfpd from 145.6 bfpd. So the pump does not work beyond the capacity of the well itself. This is evidenced by the reduction in power required by the pump from 2.96 hp to 2.78 hp with an increase in efficiency to 90.9%.
