Abstract

The Well MA-01 and MA-02 X fields are oil wells which have directional drilling types. When drilling formation pressure and fracture pressure are the main factors considered in the planning of drilling a new well, including MA-01 and MA-02 development wells. The X field itself has the potential for abnormal pressure changes because the pressure deviates from the normal pressure gradient where for this gradient is greater than the normal formation pressure of 0.465 psi / ft. This study discusses the determination of formation pressure and fracture using the d-Exponent method by calculating corrected d-Exponents based on drilling parameters such as ROP, WOB, bit diameter, RPM, and mud weight, while for the Eaton method taking into account Gradient Fracture. The MA-01 X well is indicated to change the formation pressure trend at a depth of 2280 ft, where the formation pressure rises from 1055.18 Psi to 2025.29 Psi at a depth of 4240 ft and the formation pressure gradient also changes significantly from the previous 0.462 psi / ft to 0.473 psi / f, abnormal pressure occurs at a depth of 3006 ft to 4240 ft where the average gradient reaches 0.473 psi / ft. Abnormal pressure occurs due to pack off. While the MA-02 wells formations pressure at depths of 953 ft to 3095 with an average gradient of 0.452 psi / ft which is included in subnormal pressure and fracture pressure of 711,891 psi, 2311,965 psi, with an average gradient of 0.747 psi / ft . From determining the performance of bits to formations, the bits penetrated at MA-01 and MA-02 wells are 121/4 and 81/2 size PDC bits with the IADC M223 code suitable for use in soft to medium formations.
