Abstract
Xanthan Gum is a polysaccharide produced by xanthomonas campestris that is widely used in oil field as a material to increase the viscosity of water in the Polymer Flooding. Powerful ability to increase viscosity, coupled with excellent stability at high salinity and high temperature, makes it suitable for EOR. Xanthan Gum is usually produced from simple sugars like sucrose and glucose that can be obtained from solid waste tapioca from cassava pulp, because it contains high starch and has a very low lignin content. Important parameters that can affect the Polymer Flooding process in the form of concentration, temperature, salinity, viscosity and compatibility. In this study, researchers will conduct tests on the parameters to be tested in the form of compatibility, viscosity and shear rate of the xanthan Gum, as well as know the influence of concentration, temperature, salinity Brine and shear rate of xanthan Gum viscosity. Researchers will conduct tests on concentrations of 500 ppm, 1.000 ppm, 1.500 ppm, and 2.000 ppm respectively. At the temperature of each 60°C , 70 °C, 80 °C and 90 °C. As well as in the variations of brine salinity respectively 5.000 ppm, 10.000 ppm, 15.000 ppm, and 20.000 ppm. Based on the tests that have been done, there are 12 samples of solutions that were declared successful compatibility test, among them The concentration of 500 ppm, salinity brine 20.000 ppm @60°C. Concentration 500 ppm, salinity Brine 10.000 ppm @90 °C. Concentration 500 ppm, salinity brine 15.000 ppm @ 90°C. Concentration 1.000 ppm, salinity Brine 5.000 ppm @60 °C. Concentration 1,000 ppm, salinity Brine 15.000 ppm @70 . Concentration 1.000 ppm, salinity Brine 20.000 ppm @70 ℃. Concentration 1.000 ppm, salinity Brine 5.000 ppm @90°C. Concentration 1.000 ppm, salinity Brine 10.000 ppm @90°C. Concentration 1.000 ppm, salinity Brine 15.000 ppm @90 °C. Concentration 1.000 ppm, salinity Brine 20.000 ppm @90 °C. Concentration 1.500 ppm, salinity Brine 20.000 ppm @70 °C and concentration 2.000 ppm, salinity Brine 5.000 ppm @80 °C. With a viscosity value of each 1.2689 cp, 1.0418 cp, 1.0418 cp, 1.5409 cp, 1.2363 cp, 1.2097 cp , 1.2203 cp, 1.1610 cp, 1.1175 cp , 1.0800 cp, 1.3055 cp, and 1.6443 cp. Based on research that has been conducted on the influence of concentration, temperature, salinity and shear rate against the viscosity of Xanthan Gum can be concluded that the greater the concentration given then the value of viscosity Xanthan gum will be higher and the higher the temperature, salinity as well as shear rate then the viscosity of xanthan Gum will decrease.
