Abstract
The existing urban dynamics such as meeting the needs of urban food can not be undertaken alone, one solution to the problem of this city is to increase urban food productivity by means of urban farming. The implementation of the urban farming program is one form of community empowerment. Maharatu Village has the potential to be developed into an urban farming area, but the existing agricultural activities still lack community participation and cooperation among farmers. To realize the participation of the community itself, development is needed based on the wishes of the community, therefore it is necessary to know the community's preferences. The purpose of this research is to formulate the direction of developing urban farming based on community preferences in the Village of Maharatu. This research uses descriptive qualitative-quantitative analysis method with purposive sampling technique. The analysis technique in identifying the characteristics of urban farming activities in the Village of Maharatu uses descriptive analysis with field observation and interview methods. While community preference analysis techniques related to urban farming activities in Maharatu Village use Importance Performance Analysis (IPA) analysts. And to direct the development of urban farming based on community preferences using regional development analysis techniques. The results of this study are the identification of the characteristics of urban farming in the Village of Maharatu obtained the results of the actors of urban farmin activities, purpose of urban farming, land use urban farming, scale urban farming, location of urban farming, property urban farming, urban farming techniques, and production of urban farming activities in the Village Maharatu. For the analysis of community preferences related to urban farming activities, 9 (nine) attributes were obtained in the first quadrant. And for the direction of the development of urban farming based on community preferences is divided into 4 stages as follows; (1) Phase I Establishment with the direction of the development of Growing and forming the basic foundation of urban farming in the Village of Maharatu; (2) Phase II Functionalizing (direction) with the direction of the development of directing the use of urban farming; (3) Phase III Innovation with the direction of the development of developing Green Technology to increase agricultural productivity; (4) Phase IV Sustainability with the direction of development, namely the formation of market hydroponics.
