Abstract
RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN BIG FIVE PERSONALITY AND QUARTER-LIFE CRISIS IN FINAL YEAR STUDENTS AT UNIVERSITAS ISLAM RIAU (UIR) Andi Fatimah 178110138 FACULTY OF PSYCHOLOGY UNIVERSITAS ISLAM RIAU ABSTRACT Final year students as early adult individuals are vulnerable to crisis in the form of students inability to respond to the instability of constant change in aspects of life as early adult individuals. The effects can range from stress, the development of anxiety disorders to clinical depression. The emotional crisis that causes psychosocial problems that occurs in the phase of transition from adolescence to adulthood (emerging adulthood) is known as a quarter-life crisis. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the five dimensions of the five major personality traits (extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, emotional stability, and intellect) with the quarter-life crisis experienced by final year students at Universitas Islam Riau (UIR). The data collection method in this research is to use IPIP-BFM-25 large personality scale consisting of 25 items that have been adapted into Indonesian by Akhtar and Azwar (2018) and quarter-life crisis scale developed by the researcher consisting of 76 items based seven aspects of quarter-life crisis presented by Robbins and Wilner (2001), namely: uncertainty in decision making, feelings of hopelessness, negative self-evaluation, being stuck in difficult situations, feelings of anxiety, feelings of depression, and restlessness. concern for interpersonal relationships. The sample in this study consisted of 158 final year students of Universitas Islam Riau who were obtained through probability sampling technique, namely cluster sampling. The data analysis method used in this study is the Spearman Rho method. The results of the statistical analysis showed that there was a significant negative relationship between the five major personality dimensions (extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, emotional stability, and intellect) and the quarter life crisis.
