Abstract
DESCRIPTION OF INDIVIDUAL GRATEFULNESS IN THE ELDERLY Marda Yani Siagian 178110204 FACULTY OF PSYCHOLOGY RIAU ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY Abstract Gratitude is a feeling of happiness by acknowledging the favors given by Allah and using these favors in accordance with the will of Allah SWT. As well as the form of positive personal characteristics so that they can represent their lives positively. This study aims to determine the description of gratitude in individuals in the elderly phase (elderly) and what influences it. The subjects in this study were two elderly people (elderly) in Trans Aliaga IV Village, Huta Raja Tinggi District, Kab. Padang Lawas, Prov. North Sumatra. The approach used in this research is descriptive qualitative research (purposive sampling) with the approach used is interview and observation. The results of this study indicate that the results of interviews and observations made, namely the subject of gratitude that is in themselves that makes the subject not give up when facing obstacles, difficulties, and problems both in family life, economy, and the environment where he lives so that he becomes an elderly who always grateful for what he has.
