Abstract
To achieve success in development, one must note that community involvement or community participation in development including waste management. Waste problems that often occur in the city of Pekanbaru, until now is still an obstacle that must be addressed immediately. Senapelan District is one of the districts that produces the most waste and is a densely populated area. The purpose of this study was to determine community participation in waste management in the urban case study in Senapelan Subdistrict, by analyzing the form of waste management, the factors that influence community participation, forms of community participation, and the level of community participation. This research uses a deductive research process with quantitative research methods or descriptive methods. Data collection techniques in this study used primary and secondary data, obtained through observation, questionnaires and interviews. The analysis technique used is the Frequency Distribution with research subjects in the District of Senapelan with a sample of 396 people. Waste Management in the Senapelan District starts from the stage of waste disposal, garbage collection, waste segregation, waste processing, garbage transportation and final waste processing. Based on the results of frequency distribution analysis, the factors that influence community participation are income, employment, and community attitudes towards the environment, forms of community participation in Senapelan District in the form of Power (Physical participation), Participation with skill, Money (Money participation) , for the level of community participation in the Senapelan District, which is moderate.
