Abstract

Oil palm empty fruit bunches are one of the largest parts of the waste produced by palm oil processing factories, the Riau region generally has the potential to develop oil palm plantations which are quite extensive with an area of ​​2,399,170 hectares. Because cellulose is a linear polymer produced from plants whose structure is a polysaccharide and is a hydrophilic compound, a crystalline polymer with a high molecular weight, lignin is one of the main polymers found in plant cell walls with high levels and has a high efficiency composite system. , which is a combination of carbon, oxygen, hydrogen, and solar energy. Composite materials are very much needed in Indonesia, including small boats in large quantities, for transportation between small islands that are close to each other, for coastal tourism, rivers, lakes, reservoirs, and ponds. fishing boats, and water bikes (peddle boats) that are often encountered in tourist attractions are generally made of fiberglass (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastics), because the construction is light, and the production process is fast (using molds). The purpose of this study was to obtain optimum mechanical properties, using the bending test, impact test, and microstructural test with a ratio of the percentage of mixture 70% epoxy resin 30% EFB, 60% epoxy resin 40% EPEFB, 50% epoxy resin 50% EPEFB. The test uses the standard ASTM D790 -03 and ASTM D256 -03 with a comparison of results based on the Indonesian Classification Bureau (BKI).
