Abstract
Indragiri Hilir district is the largest district in the Riau Province with geographic conditions separated by sea and rivers. These conditions make it very difficult for the region to feel equitable development. The development imbalance that occurred in Indragiri Hilir Regency can be seen from the distribution of facilities and infrastructure as well as the population concentrated in the central government, in the city of Tembilahan, making the back regions, especially coastal areas that are geographically difficult to reach, look less developed. Therefore, a solution is needed, one of which is through the analysis of growth centers in the coastal area of Indragiri Hilir Regency. Data analysis in this study was carried out with three analyzes, they are (i) scalogram analysis and Marshal centrality index to find out which coastal areas have the potential to be the center of growth in terms of the completeness of facilities and infrastructure, (ii) gravity analysis and stopping points to determine the strength of interactions and the limits of influence of each region which is the center of growth on its hinterland area (iii) analysis of the centrality index based on the values of conig and shimbel to determine the level of connectivity between coastal areas which are the centers of growth in Indragiri Hilir Regency. The results of the research show (i) the districts which have the potential to become centers of growth in the coastal area of Indragiri Hilir Regency consist of four districts, namely Kateman District as the main growth center, Tanah Merah District as the second growth center, Mandah District and Reteh District as the third growth center, ( ii) the growth center district with the highest value of interaction strength to its hinterland area is Kateman District with a total interaction value of 4,687,151 interaction units. Subsequently followed by Reteh District 2,338,701 interaction units, Mandah District 1,944,391 interaction units, and Tanah Merah District 1,904,590 interaction units. Meanwhile, for the growth center sub-district with the highest limit of influence is Kateman sub-district, (iii) growth centers in the coastal area of Indragiri Hilir district with the highest level of connectivity are Mandah sub-district and Tanah Merah sub-district.
