The engine is often referred to as an AC (Air Conditioner) used for air conditioning or regulating temperature, humidity, cleanliness, and busian pendentri simultaneously to achieve the comfortable conditions needed by residents who are in it. The simple cycle of the cooling machine consists of standard components such as compressors, condensers, expansion valves and evaporators that circulate refrigerant as a working fluid. To get the air temperature in accordance with the desired many alternatives that can be applied, including swapping the type of rerigerant in the engine coolant. The purpose of this research is to get the effect of the type of refrigerant on the performance of the cooling machine and get the type of refrigerant that produces the best performance of the cooling engine. The method used in this study was an experiment using equipment from a 1 pk split AC machine. With refrigerant R- 410A, R-32, R-22 and MC-22 as the working fluid in the engine. Recording data in the form of pressure and temperature. Based on the discussion that has been carried out, the following conclusions can be drawn, The use of different refrigerants affects the performance of the cooling machine. where the performance of the cooling machine using refrigerant R-410A, R-32, R-22 and MC-22 has different absorption and heat dissipation and the refrigerant that produces the best cooling machine performance is the type of refrigerant MC-22 can be seen of the lowest compressor work with a value of 36.54 (kJ / kg), the highest condenser exhaust heat with a value of 189.23 (kJ / kg), the highest refrigeration effect with a value of 152.69 (kJ / kg), the highest mass flow rate low with a value of 0.0192 (kJ / kg), COP actual with a value of 4.17, COP ideal with a value of 4.37 and the highest efficiency of the cooling machine with a value of 95.4%
