Abstract
Overheating is a condition where the temperature of the machine exceeds the normal limit. Overheating can cause fatal damage to the engine components and result in the performance of the engine. By ensuring the work of the cooling system will reduce the risk of overheating, so that the machine work will be maximal. One of the factors affecting the engine cooling system is the type of coolant that use. The study was conducted using the Toyota series 4k Kijang. The coolant used is ordinary water, coolant A, coolant B, coolant C. Testing conducted on a constant round of 1500 and within 10 minutes. Data usage is done twice for each coolant use. The results showed that the C coolant resulted in the effectiveness of the high radiator 69.3% which affects the value of the best performance parameters, followed by coolant B The effectiveness value of the radiator 67.4%, coolant A value of radiator effectiveness 65.6%, and ordinary water radiator effectiveness value of 62.3% effect on the lowest value of the performance parameters.
