Abstract
Overheating is a condition where the engine temperature exceeds normal limits. Overheating can cause fatal damage to engine components and result in lower engine performance. By maximizing the work of the cooling system, it will reduce the risk of overheating so that the conducted using an Isuzu Panter engine. The research aims to find the value of the effectiveness of the radiator and also the effect of the effectiveness of the radiator on performance based on the type of coolant used. So that the best coolant can be selected from each coolant used. The coolant used is ordinary water, coolant A, coolant B, coolant C. The test is carried out. At a constant rotation of 1500 rpm and within 15 minutes. Data was used twice for each use of coolant. The results showed that coolant C produced the highest radiator effectiveness value, namely 69.3% which had an effect on the best performance parameter value, followed by coolant B, the radiator effectiveness value of 67.4%, coolant A, the radiator effectiveness value of 65.6%, and ordinary water the value effectiveness of the radiator 62.3% has an effect on the lowest performance parameter values.
