Abstract

Cooling machines are often referred to as AC (Air Conditioner) used for air conditioning or regulating temperature, humidity, cleanliness, and distribution simultaneously in order to achieve the comfortable conditions needed by the occupants in it. The simple cycle of a refrigeration machine consists of standard components such as a compressor, condenser, expansion valve and an evaporator that circulates refrigerant as a working fluid. To get the desired air temperature, there are many alternatives that can be applied, including changing the type of cooling media in the cooling machine. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the type of cooling medium on the performance of the cooling machine and to obtain the type of cooling medium that produces the best cooling machine performance. The method used in this study is an experiment using equipment from a 1 pk split AC machine. With the types of air cooling media air, fresh water, yamacoolant, powercoolant, and prestone as cooling media. Data recorded in the form of pressure and temperature. Based on the discussion that has been carried out, the following conclusions can be drawn, The use of different types of cooling media affects the performance of the cooling machine. where the performance of the cooling machine using air, fresh water, yamacoolant, powercoolant, and prestone has different heat absorption and dissipation and the type of cooling medium that produces the best cooling machine performance is the type of prestone cooling media which can be seen from the compressor work. the lowest with a value of 36.89 (kJ/kg), the highest condenser exhaust heat with a value of 188.72 (kJ/kg), the highest refrigeration effect with a value of 151.83 (kJ/kg), the lowest mass flow rate with a value of 0.023 (kJ/kg), the lowest COPactual with a value of 7.83, the lowest COPideal with a value of 5.11 and the highest refrigeration efficiency with a value of 95%.
